Wisdom

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; Proverbs 3:13 NKJV

Yes, happy is the person who finds wisdom and gains understanding. It’s not that wisdom was lost, but rather we are lost until we find Jesus Christ. He alone is wisdom.

Before knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior we are driven by impure, self-centered, lustful, greedy for gain, what’s-in-it-for-me kind of thinking. A wise Christ-filled person no longer lives by fulfilling fleshy desires. That shift in motive changes our actions which ushers in the benefits of a rewarding God-balanced life as outlined in verses 14-18:

  • Better proceeds than profits of silver
  • More precious than rubies
  • Nothing compares with wisdom
  • Long life on the right
  • Riches and honor on the left
  • Pleasant ways
  • Paths of peace
  • Tree of life
  • Happiness

Those are some great benefits of receiving wisdom into our hearts. Happiness comes when we lose the burden of trying to control things. When we gladly submit to God and let Him handle things it frees us from trying to figure stuff out and releases us to walk the pathways of peace. God has it. He won’t drop the ball. Whatever the outcome is His desire and we trust it is for the best.

Where are you today? Have you accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior? If not why? Don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Acknowledge God, trust Him and He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Lord Jesus, thank you for saving us. Thank you for giving us wisdom and understanding when we confess you as Lord and Savior. Help us to live for you and experience the benefits of your ways. In Jesus’ name Amen.
